‘Celebrate success’ for World FM day
Preparation for this year’s World FM Day is underway across the globe.
On June 28th, the fourth annual World FM Day will take place, fmworld.org.uk. It is an event that aims to acknowledge and reward the myriad achievements which have taken place within the facilities management (FM) industry; highlighting the importance of the sector.
This year’s theme is ‘Celebrating Successes’ and it is hoped that FM teams around the world will do so. The event’s primary objectives are to highlight the profession’s aims on a global basis, acknowledge the contribution FM has made towards sustainable, safe working environments and to ‘give worldwide coverage to the ideals of facilities management’.
Many FM professionals around the world have pledged their support, including the Middle East Facility Management Association (MEFMA). The association aims to raise awareness of FM across the Middle East by staging four events simultaneously in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar and Dubai, according to ameinfo.com.
MEFMA hopes that World FM Day will provide an opportunity for its members to ‘discuss and debate’ industry trends while emphasising FM’s value to end-users.
Meanwhile the Facilities Management Association New Zealand has publicised some regional celebration plans on its website, fmanz.org. They include an evening of ‘cocktails and canapés’ in Christchurch as a thank you to all of those who ‘helped keep the city going’ after the earthquake.
