Paul McCarthy Carries the Flame
On the 27th June, with one month to go to the London 2012 Games, Paul McCarthy Sales Manager at Qube Global Software took part in the Olympic Torch Relay.
Paul was selected to be one of the 8000 torchbearers due to nominations in relation to his work in the community and particularly for voluntary work as an Athletics coach with the Laffletics Adapted Sports Club. Paul has also completed a number of Marathons and raised thousands for charities such as The Lincs & Notts Air Ambulance and The National Kidney Research Fund.
The team at Qube Global Software are immensely proud of Paul’s involvement and a number of members of staff travelled to be with him on the day.
Paul commented. “Fortunately the weather was very kind and it was a fantastic day. I was lucky to be able to do the ‘kiss’ from one torch to another and then, as I ran the last leg of that section, passed over to the lantern. The crowds were fantastic and it was particularly nice to have my family travel to see me, along with friends and colleagues from Qube who took the afternoon off work especially to see me. The support I have received has been brilliant.”
Paul carried the flame in the village of Wrangle in his home county of Lincolnshire.
