Qube Global Software and IFMA raise $600 for Philabundance | 28 June 2013
The 5th Annual World FM Day, created by Global FM, was held on June 27th this year. Qube Global Software, along with members of the Philadelphia chapter of IFMA, joined in the successful efforts to support this years’ theme of Creating, Sharing and Learning.
Philabundance, a not for profit community food bank, was the chosen recipient of the team’s volunteer efforts. Nearly 40 volunteers participated in the project, working alongside a ministry youth group of high school students from around the country. Volunteers were divided into four working groups: unloading delivery trucks filled with meat and cereal; sorting, tagging and packing over 6,000 pounds of frozen meats; weighing and packaging nearly 3,300 pounds of cereal for distribution at a subsidiary warehouses; and providing administrative assistance to the staff.
“It was such a productive and worthwhile way to spend a day,” stated Britany Wright, Marketing Coordinator. “It’s staggering how many families and individuals go hungry. If we made even the slightest dent with the work we did, it was a day well spent.”
In addition to the efforts of Qube Global Software and the Philadelphia Chapter of IFMA, additional thank you’s go out to the generosity of these participating companies that include: Art by Design; Barry Isett & Associates; Conklin Office Furniture; Core Power Inc; CSI International Inc; Deluxe Corporation; Edifice Rx; El Sevier Publications; Haworth Inc; Hoffman Design Group; IMS Audio Visual; Interface; Lincoln Financial Group; Nason Construction; Oliver Mechanical; Paul Rabinowitz Glass Co; PNC Bank; Securitas Security; Spartan Surfaces; Vanguard Group; Temple University; MilliCare by EBC and Bryn Mawr Trust Facilities.
In addition, $600 was donated to Philabundance.
One of the staff members thanked us for being there and mentioned, ‘I wish we (Philabundance) as a company didn’t need to exist, but because of volunteers like you we’re able to feed deserving families in our area.’

About Philabundance: There are almost a million people in the Delaware Valley who face hunger every day. Their stories are as diverse as the nine counties served by Philabundance: working families hit hard by the recession, women and children, seniors trying to make ends meet. The one thing they have in common is being part of a food system that desperately needs additional support. Astonishingly, more than a quarter of the food in the United States goes to waste each year. Within the Delaware Valley, Philabundance has experienced 26 percent more people coming to us for food compared to last year. Philabundance was created in 1984 with the simple belief that no man, woman or child should go hungry. Our growth and eventual integration with the Philadelphia Food Bank in 2005 has made us the region’s largest hunger relief company. We are now able to address hunger through direct service programs and a network of 500 member agencies, as well as contribute to a broad spectrum of social services through food cupboards, emergency kitchens, shelters, daycare and senior establishments and beyond. Philabundance has taken a stronghold of the hunger issue in the Delaware Valley, implementing both emergency relief and also long-term strategies to strengthen the hunger safety net. There is no quick fix, but with a unified dedication from our partners, donors and the public at large, we are creating innovative programs and support to our agencies that make nutritious food accessible to all.
