The IFMA (International Facility Management Association) annual World Workplace Conference was held in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, October 1st through the 4th.

Qube Global Software actively participated in an array of scheduled events throughout the four (4) day program.  Exhibiting alongside business partners from CAD Management Inc., hundreds of the more than 5,000 attendees visited at length with our Space Management experts.   Using a built-to-scale model of an office floorplate currently utilizing Qube Space Manager, best practices were fully demonstrated via the 88 person LEGO office.  Not just a toy, but a professional business tool, tracking space was easily documented with barcoding and scanned statistics, visually demonstrating how uncomplicated the software is to use.

Space related contests were hosted:  On October 2, three (3) winners were chosen by closest guestimate of the number of individual bricks used to construct the ‘office’.  The closest guess to the 8654 pieces used was shy by less than 60 bricks.

Based on eight (8) surveys of space utilization done over the two (2) days, the Qube Space Manager team calculated the percentage of utilized space.  Actual office usage, excluding public space and meeting rooms, averaged 59.73% of a possible 100%.   Up and coming graduates of Temple University’s Facilities Management program at Temple University had the closest guess to the percentage of actual utilization of existing space.

FM students and faculty from the Community College of Philadelphia and Temple University, along with supporters of the Greater Philadelphia chapter of IFMA, surprised trade show attendees with its first flash mob, changing the meaning of IFMA to ‘I flashed mobbed at…!   More like a mini dance recital, nearly 40 students’ dazzled attendees with a choreographed performance outside the trade show doors on the second day of the conference.

“With IFMA World Workplace hosted near our US headquarters, we embraced the opportunity to have all of our team participating as volunteers, working the registration desk, hosting city tours, demonstrating our software best practices and expertise…even dancing with the students,” Sharon Miller Trackman, Marketing Manager of The Americas and Canada, continued by saying how she felt  ‘privileged to have been able to work with and get to know a number of the future FM graduates…they truly are a force to be reckoned with!”
