Philanthropy is key focus for World FM Day | June 24 2011
For Qube Global Software, philanthropy plays a major role in our business operations philosophy. As a renewed headline sponsor of Global FM, we were an active participant in June 23rd’s World FM day. Qube’s UK and US headquarters participated in this world wide event to celebrate our industry.
While the UK team hosted an open house, the US team got their hands dirty, using facility management expertise in a day of community service in the Greater Philadelphia area. Qube Global Software chose to partner with ACHIEVEability, a non-profit devoted to the empowerment and education of low income, single parent families living in homeless shelters or substandard conditions.
More than 20 volunteers stood side by side with ACHIEVEability team members, readying 3 separate apartment homes for immediate move in. “We chose ACHIEVEability because of what it stands for,” stated Sharon G. Miller, US Marketing Manager for Qube Global Software. Quoting CEO Marcus Allen, “the focus to permanently break the cycle of poverty through empowerment and education is done through ‘tough love and nurturing’. Allen (a recent addition of the prestigious ’40 under 40’ list awarded by The Philadelphia Business Journal) is truly inspiring, and meeting him has only increased my awareness of, and commitment to, such an important organization. He personifies the passion this non-profit has for what they do every day.”
Qube Global Software reached out to regional facility management related associations, including IFMA, Realcomm and CoreNet. In addition to Qube Global Software team members, other Philadelphia companies got involved, including: Budget Maintenance; Century 21; CHOP; Comcast and Comcast Spotlight; Edifice; Elsevier; Haworth; LM Services; Lor-Mar; Millicare; Pfizer; PNC Bank; Rafferty Painting.
A donation drive was an additional way for companies to celebrate, resulting in a surplus of school supplies and cleaning products donated to ACHIEVEability for distribution.
“Thank you for helping us celebrate thirty years of helping families become self-sufficient by supplying services we would have otherwise needed to outsource,” said Marcus Allen of ACHIEVEability. “There are three families who will be very happy to see their new apartments.”
