Technology’s role in FM, IFMA World Workplace | November 2, 2012
Facility Managers and industry specialists from around the globe came together for the 2012 IFMA World Workplace in San Antonio, TX. Throughout the 3 day event, business professionals met with peer industry experts throughout the exhibition hall, during conference sessions, and at a number of networking events. The facility tours of the Alamo, the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center, The Pearl, Rackspace, USAA, Brooks City-Base, and the AT&T Center provided attendees with a diverse selection to get ‘behind-the-scenes’ of the area’s most popular locations. Despite the impact Hurricane Sandy had on the northeastern seaboard, the annual conference was well attended.
On the morning of November 1, Qube Global Software’s Vice President of Business Development, Matthew Sheldrick, participated in the Global FM Workshop. In a panel discussion entitled ‘The New Economy: the Right Time and the Right Place for FM’, primary discussion centered on the importance of technology and the role it plays. Additional panelists included representatives from: Firmenich and ABRAFAC; Macau Institute of Management; ISS and Occupiers Journal Limited, all addressing the changing global economy and its effects on our industry as a whole.
“In an effort to foster international business growth, panels such as these provide a forum for shared information and business development,” stated Matthew Sheldrick, VP of Business Development. “The Global FM platform generates a series of thought provoking questions on subject matters that challenge us every day, hopefully generating solutions to occurring challenges.”
Topics presented at the conference included: finance as it relates to business; the human factor in a working environment; leadership and strategies to excel; operations, maintenance and project management best practices; technology as it relates to real estate.
