Around 135,000 square feet of prime office space could soon be made available in Birmingham after the latest proposals for the city’s long-proposed Arena Central project were submitted.
The new application details plans for the development’s first building, 1 Arena Central, which also includes 5,000 square feet of retail space. According to developers, the eight-storey tower will be designed to attract passers-by, with a curved façade and a striking checkerboard motif.
Jonathan Miller from the group leading the project, Arena Central Developments Ltd (ACDL), was quoted by insidermedia.com as saying: “Birmingham’s stock on the global stage has never been higher and it is our intention to deliver a truly grade A office space that will continue to attract the very highest quality occupiers to the city and the region.
“Our location adjacent to Centenary Square and fronting Broad Street makes this one of the most prominent active development sites in the city centre.”
According to birminghammail.co.uk, ACDL has already received planning permission to create 2.3 million square feet of mixed-use space as part of the wider development. This includes 860,000 square feet of prime office accommodation and more than one million square feet of retail space. In total, 9.2 acres of land has been set aside for the new facilities.
