Leadership is key at CoreNet Global Summit | October 30, 2014

Change takes time. For that reason, the resonating theme of CoreNet’s Global Summit was about effective ways to change the business conversation from cost to value. Over 2500 attendees from more than 23 countries traveled to the nation’s capital to enhance their negotiating skills from October 26 through 29, 2014.

David Gergen, a senior Political Analyst for CNN, delivered a keynote address focusing on leadership, power and the influence of politics as it relates to corporate real estate. Gergen, a best-selling author and adversary to four Former Presidents, shared behind the scenes insights into the struggles to exercise power. During his presentation, Gergen alluded that “a leader is someone who mobilizes others in the pursuit of shared goals.” He further discussed why ultimate success or failure depends not only on current leaders, but the next generation to come.

Madeleine Albright, Former Secretary of State to former President Bill Clinton, was closing keynote speaker. In the ‘fireside chat’ format, CEO Angela Cain and Chairman Randy Smith (both of CoreNet), fielded questions from the audience in this no-holds barred open forum discussion.

Qube Global Software hosted an exclusive event on the evening of Sunday, October 26th. The night sky was brilliant as nearly 120 industry VIP’s enjoyed high end cordials and desserts while cruising the Potomac on a riverboat powered solely by paddle wheel. Music and great conversations lead to karaoke, and a fantastic time was had by all.

This year’s booth featured a number of robotic devices, showing how utilized space can be better measured in the scaled model office. Business partners from CADM demonstrated the capabilities and functionality of Qube Space Management (powered by Accordant 9.5), along with demonstrations of other CRE solutions offered by Qube Global Software.

“CoreNet continues to attract key industry executives with their unparalleled programming,” claimed John Cuppello, CEO of Qube Global Software. “This year, we engaged in conversations ranging from developing the executive leadership toolkit how to attract young and educated talent, to best practices in government procurement to understanding REITs.”
