Qube Global Software Employees Race for Charity | 13 July 2012

On Thursday 12th June, 9 Qube Global Software employees, from across our Planet, Horizon and Qube product areas, joined 6,500 City workers to take part in London’s Great City Race.

The runners Paul Appleyard, Phil Burton, Claire Dudley, Amanda Green, Dave Griffin, Rob Lewis, Andy Phelan, Pete Ratcliffe and Matt Roobol, were selected to run 5km around the City of London.

The route took the team through the streets of Barbican, St. Pauls, Guildhall, past the Qube Global Software offices in King Street, through Liverpool Street and a race across the London Wall to the finish line at the Honorable Artillery Company Ground.

At the height of the famous British Summer, the team found themselves warming up and running through rain and puddles and cold temperatures. Despite this the whole team performed well with an average finish time of 25 minutes, coming 62nd in the industry.

The staff at Qube Global Software are immensely proud of the team and runner Matt commented: “Racing around the Square Mile dodging puddles and people was great fun. The support around the City was fantastic too.”

The team have vowed to continue to run and will see you at the finish line in 2013!

About the Great City Race
On Thursday 12th July, 2012, the City’s 5km premier corporate running challenge, The Standard Chartered Great City Race, returned for the 8th year with 6,500 runners from circa 400 companies running through the Square Mile’s closed-off streets. The 2012 race saw the Official Race Community Partner, Seeing is Believing – a global initiative to help eradicate avoidable blindness. £5 from each entry is donated to the charity but also, all money raised for Seeing is Believing in conjunction with the race will be matched by Standard Chartered therefore doubling the impact!
